Notes from Cliff Cummings, Member of SystemVerilog User Group (SVUG) Steering Committee and President of Sunburst Design.
The inaugural SVUG ...
Meetings were held in San Jose and Austin and participation was promising. Cliff had suggested that the group name be changed to the SystemVerilog Methodology User Group or SMUG but we had already secured the www.svug.org web domain and it was deemed inappropriate to change the group name and web site at this time J
At the very first SVUG Meeting in San Jose, all enjoyed the presentations and opportunities to network with other SystemVerilog experts and users. Two evening presentations were given by SystemVerilog experts Jason Sprott, Vice President of Consulting at Verilab and Cliff Cummings, President of Sunburst Design.
Jason delivered an informative presentation on Functional Coverage using SystemVerilog, based on Verilab's experiences with functional coverage both learned and shared at Verilab customer consulting engagements, while Cliff gave a presentation on SystemVerilog Assertion & RTL Tricks for Designers. Both presentations stirred great interest among the audence.
The San Jose event was held in the covered outdoor venue of the Smoke Tiki Lounge. The setting was fun and informal but we discovered late in the afternoon, that the covered outdoor area was in the flight path of landing aircraft for San Jose International Airport. Jason had to pause a couple of times to allow a loud aircraft to pass over, which was really rather amusing, plus Jason handled the challenge like a pro with grace and humor. |
