Dennis B. Brophy is vice-chairman of Accellera and has been active in the standardization of SystemVerilog in Accellera and the IEEE from the language’s inception. Today, Dennis serves as the IEEE P1800 working group secretary and continues to be part of the IEEE SystemVerilog standardization team. In addition to this, Dennis fostered the use of the IEEE corporate process in the standardization of SystemVerilog and has held several leadership positions in the IEEE SA’s standards board and committees and is currently a member of the IEEE board of governors. Dennis received a Bachelor of Science from the University of California at Davis in electrical engineering and computer engineering in 1980.
Cliff Cummings is President of Sunburst Design, Inc., a company that specializes in world-class Verilog, SystemVerilog and synthesis training. Cliff has presented more than 50 SystemVerilog seminars and training classes over the past four years and was the featured speaker at the worldwide SystemVerilog NOW! seminars. Cliff has participated on every IEEE & Accellera Verilog, Verilog Synthesis, SystemVerilog committee, and has presented some 40 papers on Verilog & SystemVerilog related design, synthesis and verification techniques. Cliff holds a BSEE from Brigham Young University and an MSEE from Oregon State University.
Dr. Hans van der Schoot is a recognized specialist in verification technology, and currently employed as Senior Consultant at Mentor Graphics Corporation. Hans has a solid background and wealth of knowledge in functional verification from his many years as a researcher, engineer and consultant in the field, with extensive practical experience providing verification methodology and implementation consulting and training services to a variety of players in the industry. He has also authored various papers pertinent to hardware verification and software testing. Hans obtained his doctorate degree in computer science from the University of Ottawa, Canada, after graduating from the University of Twente in the Netherlands, also in computer science. Prior to joining Mentor Graphics, he was the Vice President Engineering and verification technologist at XtremeEDA Corporation, a professional services firm based in Ottawa, Canada. In addition, he has successfully worked as an expert independent design verification consultant for several years, and has held senior verification positions with Qualis, PMC-Sierra, Extreme Packet Devices, and Nortel Networks.
One of the co-founders of Verilab, Jason Sprott oversees the development and quality assurance of the company’s service offerings. An expert in HVL based functional verification, with a strong background in ASIC, FPGA and embedded systems design, Mr. Sprott has a particular passion for introducing software design principles and practices, into hardware functional verification. Mr. Sprott defines the recruitment standards, training requirements, and delivery models for all Verilab consultants. He is also responsible for Verilab’s strategic partnerships. Prior to Verilab, Mr. Sprott held engineering positions at BAE Systems (Scotland) and Densepac Microsystems (CA. USA) before setting up his own independent consulting company in Scotland. He has a Masters degree in Digital Systems Engineering from the University of Heriot Watt, Edinburgh.
Jonathan Bromley has been a consultant with Doulos since 2001. He maintains his interest in FPGA and ASIC design through consultancy work. His core activity, however, is development and delivery of training in all things HDL related, with particular focus on SystemVerilog. Jonathan graduated in Physics from Oxford University, England. He worked for various startup companies, developing embedded systems and image processing hardware for industrial automation and robotics. Prior to joining Doulos, he spent several years teaching undergraduate classes in computing and electronics.
